Deepika Padukone In Comedy Film-Hosueful

Actress Deepika Padukone is trying her hand in all kind of roles. The beautiful actress is now set to show her comedy side in Sajid Khan’s Houseful. After a little comedy role in Chandni Chowk To China, this is a full fledged comedy film and the actress is worrying about it. Akshay Kumar will play a male lead opposite her.

Deepika who played a double role in her debut Om Shani Om and upcoming Chandni Chowk To China, is trying her hand in every genre that very few Bollywood actresses dare to do.

Talking about Houseful, Deepika says, “My role in Houseful is not about just a few comic scenes here and there. It’s a total comic role. I wonder how I’ll manage it. Magar main koshish karungi. Sajid has a great sense of humor and I will go by his vision. Besides, if my director has so much confidence in me, then I just can not let him down.”

Personally reserved in real life, Deepika later added, “I do have a sense of fun and I plan to have a ball of a time doing Houseful. See, I am a reserved person in real life, but that does not mean I can’t be funny for the camera.”

Well soon we all see how much the audience appreciate her in a comic role?

Deepika New Brand Ambassador For BSNL

Even the old war horse BSNL seems to have changed its lethargic ways. In a move symbolic of market dynamics, and sharp marketing they have replaced Preity Zinta with Deepika Padukone as their brand ambassador.

Preity Zinta had been the face of the telecommunications giant for many years, selling their broadband and telephony services. Preity today, is in her mid thirties, and it looks like the bosses at BSNL seem to have decided that they need a much newer and younger face to promote their products.

Deepika of course is the face of the new and emerging India, and represents the aspirations of a young India. One is sure she can create an emotional connect with the younger population, who are the biggest users of the internet.

Deepika Padukone Suffers Recession

Diana Penty has signed on as the new face of global cosmetic giant Maybelline replacing Deepika Padukone. Penty joins the ranks of international supermodels Adriana Lima and Christy Turlington who have earlier modelled for Maybelline. Says a source from the ad world explains, "The current recession has hit the modelling industry too. Companies are not willing to pay as much or even increase the endorsement fees of celebrities.

Deepika wanted her market price at a time when ad agencies are opting for models rather than celebrities because they charge much less. Ad agencies feel that half the celebs are not worth the fees they charge and there's not much recovery of money. These decisions are taken based on sales surveys. If after a star endorsement, the sales go up, the company sticks to their celeb if not, the celebrity is dropped." Elite Model Management handles Diana's endorsements while Atul Kasbekar's Bling handles Deepika's.
A source from Bling adds, "Deepika had a two-year contract with Maybelline. The contract expired in Jan 2008 and wasn't renewed, as the amount offered was not commensurate with Deepika's growing brand status.Besides, after her transition from model to actor, it wasn't possible for them to renew the contract. Maybelline in India as brand only uses models as their ambassadors. After OSO, she's a huge celebrity with reputed companies vying for her services." She stresses that the relations between Dippy and the brand continue to be cordial.

Diana Penty says, "It's a dream come true. I'm very happy modelling. I might even go to Paris and New York for two fashion seasons as I did last year."She also harbours acting aspirations, like Deepika. "I haven't planned on getting into films and acting but if something exciting comes up I won't say no." She has modeled for Garnie.

Deepika Padukone say's I compete with myself

Deepika Padukone’s upcoming film is ‘Chandni Chowk To China’ and she is teaming up with Akshay Kumar in this film. She has done some great stunts with Akshay Kumar but she does not like when she is compared with others actresses. No comparison with others: Deepika Padukone

Deepika Padukone said, “I am something different from others. Don’t equal me with Priyanka Chopra just because she has done stunts in the film ‘Drona’ and I have done in the forthcoming film ‘Chandni Chowk to China’. Everyone has different skills and capabilities. I strived hard for six months to learn those stunts and was specially trained by experts from Hong Kong.”

Talking about working with Bollywood actors, “I have worked with Shahrukh Khan and now I am teaming up with Akshay Kumar. In future I am working with Saif Ali Khan for Imtiaz Ali’s next movie, after which I will be working with Akshay Kumar once again.”

About her role in ‘Chandni Chowk To China’ Deepika stated, “I am playing a double role in ‘Chandni Chowk To China’. I put on tight wigs for CC2C that was painful. One of the two roles I play in the film is that of a Chinese girl. Even my eyes had to be stretched out for the role but it has given me satisfaction and confidence.”

Deepika Padukone is looking ravishing in her two completely different get-ups for the film Chandni Chowk to China , co-starring Akshay Kumar. It's being widely speculated that the actress plays a double role in the film. But is it really a double role for Deepika Padukone or is the news just some producer's gimmick to lure the audiences?

Deepika clarifies, "It's actually a double role and no publicity gimmick. I play two different characters in Chandni Chowk To China , one is an Indian called Sukhi, and the other is a Chinese girl, Meow Meow. The Chinese character is a pro at martial arts for which I had to undergo four months of rigorous training before the film started."

There was buzz that Deepika Padukone had to use adhesive tapes on her face so that her eyes would stretch for the Chinese look. True? "We had thought of that initially but it wasn't a good idea to use tapes, they're bad for the skin," says the actor, "My makeup artist came up with a simpler solution and used the eyeliner in such a way that it gave my eyes the Chinese tweak," she laughed.

All's well between Deepika and me: Ranbir

Ranbir Kapoor has strongly denied rumours that Katrina is coming in the way of his love life with Deepika Padukone.

Dismissing all allegations that he is distancing himself from Deepika, the actor said: "There is nothing wrong with me and Deepika. We are as good friends today as we were earlier. Nothing has changed at all. We are busy in our work and everything is going fine. We both are here to make career in films. We both have to do a lot of hard work."

Asked if he is getting too cosy with Katrina while shooting for the film Ajab Prem Ki Gajab Kahani, he says: "I don't know who is talking what. I am serious with my work. Katrina is a good co-actor."

According to the grapevine, both he and Katrina are very close to each other now. They met in Goa when they started shooting for their film. It was said that Deepika got so scared the she flew to Goa to keep a vigil on her boyfriend.

She even contacted some of the film crew to find out the truth. This created a tiff between the two as Ranbir didn't like someone spying on his activities. Since then the relationship between the too is said to have turned sour.

But now Ranbir has come out to speak against this rumour. He says: "I am concentrating at my work and career. I don't want to pay much attention to such rumours."

The media preview of Chandni Chowk To China, held yesterday at the Oberoi Mall, Goregaon, provided eye candy in the form of its lead actors - the dapper Akshay Kumar and the svelte Deepika Padukone. Akshay Kumar was his charming self as he sang the title song of the film amidst thunderous applause, while Deepika Padukone stuck to answering media queries with élan.
