No takers for Akki-Deepika?
What looks like a promising masala flick, Chandni Chowl To China, is rumoured to be in trouble.
The movie, which stars Akshay Kumar and Deepika Padukone, is proving to be the most expensive film for buyers. Warner Bros, who have made their mark in Bollywood are asking for Rs 20 crore for Chandani Chowk To China. Considering the price is double of flicks like OSO, Welcome and Singh Is Kinng's Rs 8-10 crore, buyers from the Mumbai circuit are hesitant to come forth...
One of our reliable sources has revealed, "Yes it's true. Warner Bros has put a figure of Rs 20 crore in the market for the Mumbai circuit. From the looks of it, it might be one of the coolest films ever made by Bollywood, but recently no big budget film has recovered its cost. SRK's OSO and Akki's Welcome did rake in Rs 17 – 18 crore, the highest till date. So unless they (Warner Bros) slash their asking price, they might just have to release the film themselves."
Chandni Chowk To China is releasing around Diwali and has been made in a budget of Rs 80 crore. Another Rs 10 – 15 crore will be spent on publicity.
